Strip till is a method developed out of using a combination of two things, no till and till. When using a strip till implement you are tilling but yet leave precious residue in-between the strips of tilled soil, giving greater soil moisture when needed. When practicing strip till, you leave rows of soil that will be raised by the implement giving better the chances for seed germination.

The District, in cooperation with Lake Agassiz Resource Conservation and Development, North Dakota State University, NDSU Extension Service Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department, and Farm and Ranch Guide held a Strip Till demonstration at Big Iron this year. The demonstration was well attended and included an introduction to strip till equipment, North Dakota State University and University of Minnesota Research results, and information on cost sharing opportunities.
